Bald Head Island Pink Weekend
Bald Head Island once again turns its fall colors to PINK to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.
Susan G. Komen has declared a BOLD GOAL: reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. Our local Susan G. Komen affiliate is working to achieve this BOLD GOAL by serving the breast health needs of their 29 county service area by funding Community Health Grants. The funds provide free or low-cost breast cancer screening and diagnostics for the uninsured and underserved, comprehensive breast cancer patient navigation to help keep patients in the continuum of care, and treatment and support services for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
We can help them continue this important lifesaving work by making a donation today. Your dollars are going directly to supporting the needs of North Carolina men and women, which we know are immense. In North Carolina alone, 110,300 women are living with breast cancer, 8,500 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2017, 1,300 women will die of breast cancer this year, and 20% of women aged 50-74 are not receiving mammograms. Susan G. Komen is furthering the impact being made in North Carolina by also funding ground breaking research. In North Carolina, Komen has funded 116 total research grants totaling $40.4 million and has invested in 57 early career researchers that WILL find the cures to breast cancer.
Let's help make a difference in our LOCAL fight against breast cancer and help Susan G. Komen achieve their bold goal by 2026 by investing TODAY.
